Let me explain first, a little bit about how I work…
Let’s start with the couples photos, what everyone is most afraid of!! Trust me when I say, it’ll be fun! I’m not into cheesy poses and it’s essentially just the three of us hanging out and having a laugh! I include in every booking a pre wedding / engagement shoot - this gives me a chance to get to know you both and hopefully we hit it off and the ‘awkward moments’ turn into laughter, which is exactly what I want!
Couples photos however is just a tiny part of the day. Rest assure I don’t have you away from your guests for hours on end, that’s a big no-no for me! You’ve got booze to drink, canapés to eat and friends to party with.
Most of the day is in-large documentary, where I’ll be capturing all the fun that’s going on at your wedding. The way I approach this is by being open to chat to your guests and interact with them, so that I’m not seen as ‘that scary guy with a camera’ and instead they have a bit of fun and feel more relaxed around me and that way I can capture big laughs and feel good photos that make you feel like you were there in that moment!
Your wedding, shot your way!
There are some super important things that I must capture, for example group shots, wedding party photos and ’Instagram bangers’ of you guys! But gone is the day of the bossy photographer that says this must happen at this time and that must happen at that time. I have a system to get these photos, but I want you to enjoy your day and not spend it, with sore cheeks, smiling at my camera. All I ask is you trust me, that I’m on your side and if things need to be done then I’ll get it done and if there’s some time to let you guys chill, then I’ll 100% make sure that happens!
And hey, it’s your wedding. No one has to abide by some hypothetical wedding rule book! I’m all ears for ideas you guys have on things and how you want things done! Your wedding shot your way!
Weddings are like onions…
(they have lots of layers)
Terrible joke, and I never thought I’d be quoting Shrek on my website, but here we are!
There’s so many different ‘layers’ to wedding photography. Obviously there’s the happy moments, that’s what I love about weddings, it’s literally like a miniature holiday where folk just laugh and have fun - they’re the best!
But there is also the other side, moments of reflection, happy tears, I’m there for it all!
I wear my heart on my sleeve and I’m invested in the couples that I photograph and I want to know what is important to them so that I can capture their day in it’s uniqueness and in an authentic way.
I find out a lot about my couples on our wee journey, especially at the speeches!!
A few years ago I lost my mum and she was a huge miss at my own wedding, so I know the importance of getting the photos of your loved ones and there's nothing better for me than when I capture a photo that might be so insignificant to others, but it means the absolute world to you!
